“Always searching for options that wouldn’t break the bank. Always disappointed that none of them were made for the work I do.”

For years I treated clients in rooms that were not mine. Rooms hired on lengthy contracts, or taken in a hurry between appointments — packed up in ten minutes, apologising, always apologising, for someone else’s space.

I had trained as a make-up and special-effects artist for the theatre, and later qualified as a body-contouring specialist. I knew how to build a client list. What I did not yet know was how much of running a practice would have nothing to do with treating anyone at all.

Rigid contracts. High fixed costs. Rooms borrowed from someone else’s salon or beauty bar, because flexible, professional space did not exist — not for me, and not for the hundreds of practitioners making the same quiet compromises across London.

Bodybox is a beauty and wellness coworking space in Central London. We offer professionally managed treatment rooms for rent — by the hour, by the day, by the month — to beauty, aesthetics and medical practitioners, with no lease, no long-term commitment, and no compromise on the standard your clients walk into. Every coworking clinic is arranged the way a practitioner would arrange it for themselves. Because it was.

Today, Bodybox is eleven treatment rooms across two Central London sites, in Fitzrovia and King’s Cross, with a third on the way. We have grown almost entirely by word of mouth — practitioners telling practitioners — which remains the only endorsement I have ever cared about. And watching so many of our members grow within Bodybox, and well beyond it, is why I built it.

Bodybox was built around practitioners’ needs, and around each of our members. Built by practitioners, for practitioners — that is how it began, and that is precisely how it will continue.
